This is one of the most amazing, rewarding graphic novel reads I have ever experienced. It’s easy: when I think of the best series I’ve ever read, this one is the first to come to mind. In fairness, this is not my favorite. There are others that I stack on top of this when I really crunch my brain on the matter. However, it is the best in terms of the way the story flows, the way it was adapted by Aguirre-Sacasa and so perfectly rendered by Perkins and colored by (I feel bad) ??

Even the ‘boring’ parts build/built my interest/anticipation.

In fairness, part II: I also read the whole series in one go. Yep, saved it up (except the first volume — 5 issues, I think) in my ‘to read’ bin for several years.

Maybe that’s why I felt so good about it?

It even inspired me to watch the original tv adaptation (Gary Sinise, Molly Ringwald, etc.) that aired — I would suspect — back in the late ’80s or early ’90s. Wasn’t good. However, reading the series before watching it really helped me to appreciate the show by filling in parts that were missing or that were neglected in the on-screen narrative.

I recently needed a bit of a favor from a good friend of mine (letter of recommendation) and, as a thank you gift, I bought him and shipped the omnibus of the whole series. He loved it. Just like I did. It made me very happy to be able to share a story that I enjoyed so much — with a good friend of mine. And thus, I recommend it, 5 stars, all in, to anyone who reads this belated review…

Thank you, Stephen King, for building stories that were “meant to be” for comics/graphic novel format.

Story: 5 - Excellent
