I’ll admit it, when the Original Clone Saga, which will from here on be called …the Original Clone Sage, cause I’m deep like that, started..I really dug it. And when they decided that Ben was the real deal and Pete was the clone, giving us a new status quo..I was still young enuff at the time to actually think they might KEEP it that way. I know. Yeah, I know. But I was young, what can I say? The problem to me, wasn’t the idea, it was the execution and how dang LONG it took to end. The buzz on the streets (and believe me, as a 30 something suburbanite, I KNOW the streets) was that the original was supposed to leave Ben as the main character, and that had balls. It was also the first time I remember actually noticing the process behind making comics and that it was, indeed, a business there to make money.

We all know the stigma that the Original Clone Saga carries with it to this day, so I was shocked to hear that they’d be revisiting it in a 6 issue retelling..but also very interested to see where it would have gone if not for the penny pushers at Marvel drawing it out so long.

Issues 1-4 didn’t really have much going on that I don’t remember from the first time around, so I was bored. It was illustrated by Todd Nauck (an artist who is much better served penciling books that I don’t read), so I was bored. But hey at least issues 5 and 6 were starting to show us some of the director’s cut of how it was supposed to go! It wouldn’t be so contrived and annoying, right? RIGHT? I was finally gonna see how bad-ass it was originally meant to be! No more of the flipping it back around so that Pete was the original after all! I don’t wanna spoil any of the “twists” or “turns” but this final issue left me with a big fat “meh”..and nobody likes a meh. They eat all your Doritos and constantly borrow money without paying it back.

Yes folks, that’s how I feel about this mini-series. I was excited about it and it wound up eating all my Doritos and borrowed $24 (plus tax) that I will never see again.
