Snapshot has been a non-stop action ride, murder mystery. Simply put, comics don’t get any more exciting and fun than this.
Andy Diggle knows how to write action. Snapshot has sped along at break-neck clip not only in its psychical action but reveals and plot twists. Issue three has Jake and Callie trapped in Keller’s crime camp and what they stumble upon is another twist and a major blow to Callie’s rapidly unraveling reality. Jake now feels like a character that has lost all he can without losing his will to live or clear his name of murder.
After a breath taking chase scene through the streets of San Francisco in issue two, Diggle follows it up with a car chase through a forest leading to the arrest of Jake and Callie. With Diggle you know it’s not going to end there and a cliff-hanger stand-off among the carnage Keller creates in his wake tops it all off. What can I say about Jock’s art that I haven’t said before? His pace is in perfect lock step with Diggle’s writing and he understands how to use minimalism to maximize a reader’s focus on details. The use of black and white only adds grit and power to each panel. The majority of the action literally jumps off the page.
Since Jake has been on the run this story hasn’t stopped and it’s only issue three. Feels like I’ve been reading it longer and for most series that might be a bad thing. For Snapshot it only proves that in the capable hands of Diggle and Jock the story feels much bigger than the sum of its parts. This continues to be one of my best and biggest surprises of 2013 and I can’t wait for each new issue. Of any book I get each month Snapshot is on top of the pile and if you like a get kick-ass action mystery then it should be on your too.

Great review! I totally agree with you about the stellar quality of this book. There have been ample twists and turns to keep me interested. I don’t know the overall rating hasn’t been higher.
