Marvel needed a series that was just as fun as Power Girl over at DC, and funnily enough, they got one in the form of this She-Hulks mini-series, which I truly wish was an ongoing, but I wholeheartedly understand could not sustain such a thing. This is essentially Harrison Wilcox taking us on an incredibly fun journey through the Marvel Universe and providing us with some of the biggest laughs there have been in that realm in years. Watching She-Hulk and Lyra interact with one another harkens back to the Power Girl-Terra dynamic from that series, but with a Marvel spin on things. By adding in the school friend you add another layer to the drama and maintain the insanely fun momentum of the series. Ryan Stegman’s art is the standout, meanwhile, providing cheesecake art that doesn’t feel overwrought or perverted; it feels streamlined and unique in its approach to women and superhero artwork in general. With one issue left this is a series that will certainly be missed, but as it is, it’s a fun ride while it lasts.

  1. This WAS originally an on-going but the pre-orders for the first issue were so low it was changed to a mini before it even came out. Such is the sad state of the current comics market.
