I picked up this issue because I recently read the first trade of Dan Slott’s acclaimed run with the character, and it was fantastic.  I’m glad to say that this issue, while not necessarily adding anything new or meaty to the She-Hulk mythos, is a rip-roaring good time.  There are three stories in this issue.  The first is penned by Peter David and is an absolute riot.  It spoofs Dickens’ Christmas Story as She-Hulk confronts the ghosts of her past, present and future.  The story is spattered with in-house jokes and 4th wall breaks that make it a pleasure to read.  The second story is by Brian Reed and it’s a servicable enough story.  While it doesn’t lack the humor or charm of most She-Hulk tales (or at least the ones I’ve read), it’s a solid super hero story featuring three of Marvel’s buxom heroes.  The third story is a reprint of an issue done by John Byrne, and this again is an absolute hoot.  It breaks the 4th wall yet rips She-Hulk into outer space for the beginning of an adventure with her 40 year old, overweight friend.  The art in the three different stories is very solid with Byrne’s art being my favorite of the bunch.
I salute She-Hulk’s 30 years in the biz and wish her many more.  Only this character could have such a wacky, fun anniversary.  Salud!

Story: 5 - Excellent
