I wish that I had more to say about this, but Secret Warriors is rapidly becoming Marvel mediocrity. It sorely lacks a dynamic that books like Dark Avengers, New Avengers, Captain America, and Daredevil share. After three issues, I should care more about the characters. I don’t.

If not for the rather interesting bad guys, this book would be below average. As it stands, it is just middle of the road.

  1. Agreed.  It’s just missing a spark to get me interested in it, and the inclusion of Grogan is completely lost on me.  This was probably my last issue.

  2. Couldn’t disagree more. Despite the majority of these characters being brand new I really find myself invested in them. This has two things that most other Marvel books lack; espionage and actual consequences. I feel like I am reading a great spy story when I read this book. Two covert organizations fighting a war for the control of secret resources that no one else knows about but could have a huge effect on the overall Marvel universe. Also how many times have we seen super heroes charge into combat against a clearly superior foe and have no real consequences other than an ass kicking. In this issue Yo-Yo has her arm cut off because of Daisy’s bad decision to attack Hydra. I think this book is unique among Marvel books being published right now. Plus the scenes between Nick Fury and the Black Widow were really well written.

Another thing, I feel like Dark Avengers is falling pretty flat right now. I mean what has been the point of the these first three issues other than to wrap up some minor dangling plot line introduced in Mighty Avengers a year ago. I’m going to keep reading but this better be going somewhere cause right now it just feels like that book is lacking a point.
