Brutal is not even quite the right word.  It strikes me that this is the feel that Krul is going for in Fall/Rise? of Red Arrow.  But whereas Krul’s Red Arrow comes off as hokey enough to make you laugh, what Simone does to the Secret Six makes you cringe in all the right ways.

The artwork is equally impressive.  The contrast between the way the stained glass is drawn and colored vs. the characters is twitchingly goood.

I’m really glad I picked up the Blackest Night issues, and that they’ve led up to this.  In a time where I feel like I’m adding more and more titles to my Do Not Read List, it’s nice to find something unexpected that I like.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
