This was the second book this week that I found distracting due to the art. There is no question that Carey Nord has technical skill; however the faded paint style did not at all suit the aggressive plot of this comic. Interestingly, a similar style was used in SI: Black Panther (which was great), but it seemed much more suited for that book. Here, the muted pastels diminished the presence of the X-Men and their Skrull adversaries.
In his review, Templar notes that there are plot inconsistencies regarding Scott's use of the Legacy Virus as a military tactic. I did not find this bothersome,

I was barely bothered by that. I was more bothered that Angel showed up in three places at once in issue 2, and rather than having it turn out to be a Skrull infiltrator that got slipped in during all the teleporting… it just turned out to be a mistake.
Oh – that’s weird. The site cut off my review mid-paragraph.
I don’t even remember what else I had to say. Oh wait – I liked this enough to look forward to more Mike Carey X-Men stories, and even though I didn’t like what Cary Nord did here, I would be happy to see him draw another style of comic (maybe something more stylized, like Fables or Rex Mundi).
