With Remender and Hardman on the book and coming off of a strong .1 issue expectations for this book couldn’t be much higher. Sadly, this book fell short of the mark. One can be forgiven for a more or less standard “meet the team” issue, but I found myself at a loss for likable characters. Captain Britain was abrasive, Hawkeye came across douchey, whereas in the previous issue he came off as a delightful contrarian. The art half of the team is going strong, but that’s to be expected from a great artist like Hardman. This was a bit of a slow start and I, for one, wonder if I will stick around to see if it takes off.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good

Comments

  1. I thought this book started slow, but with each page I thought it got better. It was strong enough that I will give it another issue.

  2. You know, I felt the exact opposite of you on this one. My jaw dropped after the first page turn, and I thought Remender did a good job with the characterizations. I was not, however, impressed with Hardman’s art. His style seems more appropriate for real-world style books, not super heroics. After the Art Adams cover, I felt less than enthused about Hardman’s stiff, muddy style.

  3. A fair review and one I share a thought of the same criticisms with.

Thanks for putting some of them into words.

  4. I had a hard time understanding the part where they came our of the lady. Was this due to pym particles? Some of the art confused me a little, although it was beautiful.

The story I liked, until the end where we get the villain retreads ….

  5. I was a little disappointed by this issue, but not so much that I won’t won’t stick around for at least a few more.

I have to wonder why Moon Knight iw not on the team, since he and Hawkeye have history together. I would have thought that would have been addressed.

A decent iwwue, but not a classic in the making.

  6. “is”

God, either I need a bigger keyboard or we need an Edit function!
