I remember being quite excited when the Avengers broke into the current torrent of 30 or so different titles. After 20= years of following the Avengers, it was a breath of fresh air. Until recently, I have been unwavering in my excitement, purchasing them all dutifully every available Wednesday. With the last run of Secret Avengers, I am for the first time starting to think about dropping a title. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me. On the podcast, the guys rave about this series, and clearly it seems reasonably popular with the rest of the ifanboy community. I just can’t seem to get into this whole one and done format. The stories lack gravitas and never have the time to develop into something much bigger. The characters and the artwork have carried the series, but I’m not sure I can hang on for much longer. Will Remender be the savior I’m looking for? I hope so, because otherwise Secret Avengers has become the most superfluous title of Marvel’s I’ve been reading lately.

  1. I just cancelled this title so you are not the only one!

  2. I agree, this was a very average issue. Not a very good intro to this series(it was my first Secret Avengers issue). Can’t wait for the next run on this series.

  3. There is no clear distinction or appealing call to action between Secret/New/Mighty. The books have been diluted as a result.

I would like to see “New” cancelled and Secret have a more clear purpose with a fresh and limited group of Avengers.

  4. I thought it was the most superfluous marvel title before Ellis started his run.
