Well trying to get back into writing reviews of comics now that I have not done so in the past couple of months.

I have always loved the Avengers or the concept of the Avengers. When marvel ended the last version of the Avengers, New Avengers, almost two years ago and started up the new 4 different Avengers brands, I was of course sceptical of how they would pull off 4 different versions.

I am, confession time, a sucker for comic titles, and will buy/follow all the different tittle names of what I read. Now I will drop them if they are not done well or I simply loss interest in it.

This brings me to the Secret Avengers. I thought that this one would be the first of the four that I would drop, howevever I have been pleasently suprised on how good each and every issue has been so far. Can it be better, of course it can, I think we can say that about any book out there.

#19 was a very nicely done issue. You did not have to be following the series from issue one, much less have read issue #18 to understand this story or follow it.

Well done story, intriguing if anything from this story will filter out into the world of marvel titles or not.

Pick it up if you can afford to get another comic. Not sure why this one is $3.99 instead of $2.99, really think Marvel should reconsider the pricing and move towards what DC has done with most of its brands.

  1. What I find most interesting about this issue is that Warren Ellis has chosen to write it in an Ed Brubakeresque style, i.e., street level heroes engaged in a spy-like covert operation. I have never read anything by Ellis like this, but he pulls it off very well.
