In the first half of this book we get a Scott Pilgrim who is a real dick. Angry at himself and everyone else, there's little humor here. This is made worse by the presence of the solemn Envy Adams. O'Malley makes a strange choice in this volume by giving her more pages than either Kim or Stephen. Everything to say about that character was said in Volume 3, so why drag down the narrative here by bringing her back? The plot device of Gideon taking her from Scott because Scott took Ramona from him is totally unnecessary this late in the story.
In the second half we get a battle sequence. While more enjoyable than the first half of the book, it's really just a reworking of the sword fights we saw in Volume 4. This seems like a missed opportunity for O'Malley.
In Volume 1 we got an original, funny script with average art. At the end of the series we get the opposite: mediocre writing and plotting coupled to art that is vibrant and kinetic. Still, it is hard to walk away disappointed from this series as the first five volumes were so fantastic. In fact, they even contained a better ending -- two volumes ago when Scott and Ramona moved in together.

I’m kinda with you, although I’d give the writing more like a 3 or 3.5.
Compared to other installments of the series, this was almost boring. Like you say, various parts seemed like inferior re-do’s of sequences that happened in previous volumes. I like Envy Adams’ character, but, man, based on this volume you’d think she was the third most important character in the series or something. Envy contributed so little to the story, yet she was there ALL THE TIME in this. I wanted more Kim, or even more Wallace or Steven or anybody. Worst of all, I felt that Ramona and particularly her relationship with Scott seemed really lacking in this volume. It HAD been so interesting and complex, but here all of a sudden we just have to accept that their love is infinitely awesome BECAUSE O’MALLEY’S SCRIPT SAYS SO. Instead of 50 pages of them fighting Gideon, maybe a few could have been used to develop their relationship to the next level? Silent weirdo scenes of them "in her head" don’t count as actual development.
All that said, I still liked this! I still had a really good time! But I’d rank Vol 6 as one of the two or three worst volumes. This sucks because Vols 3-5 were all 5/5s. in my eyes.
