Kathryn Immomen’s Runaways continues to be the best run since series creator, Brian K Vaughan.  Unlike the clipped “hip” dialogue of Whedon or the…I’m not sure how to categorize why Terry Moore’s run didn’t work, but….that.

Immonen explores the dimensions of the characters without making it seem dull or forced.  If you dropped off the series a while back, you should really check out this issue, or eleven if you can get your hands on it.  It’s definitely worth reading again.

Pichelli’s purplefied panels (a majority of this story takes place inside a forest created by Klara as a defensive weapon) are reall evocative.  And the manga-style hair, which is usually a turn off for me, literally, shines here.  And Kudos to her for drawing faces without tic-tac-shadowing.
