I admit to loving this book when it first came out years ago so I may be biased, but this run of Resurrection Man has been even better.
This last issue was fantastic. I love Dagnino's art. Abnett and Lanning are firing on all cylinders as well. I especially like the way the issue started with the duel narrators of Kim Rebecki and The Butcher. Both searcing for Mitch Shelly and using unconventional means but totally different reasons. I'm glad to see Kim Rebecki's 'return' to the book. Abnett and Lanning have been using enough of the familiar of the older run but in new, different and interesting ways.
This issue played on Mitch having a kind of amnesia and searching for information on his past. While it's been done before, Mitch is starting from a new place and is trying to piece together the clues of his past life. Rebecki and Butcher each find him and of course chaos ensues. Mitch runs into Rebecki, literally, and the pair start to talk and explain each of their situations when The Butcher arrives to attack. His use of dark magic was pretty cool though the battle was short. Of course Mitch was killed during the melee. Though instead of a new power set helping to defeat his enemy, it was the resurrection itself that did away the Butcher since he was using Mitch's stolen life force to power himself.
The best part came during the aftermath of the fight though. Just as Mitch and Kim started to calm down and figure out what happened, a single shot rings out, ventilating Mitch's skull. Kim looks up to find the suicide squad repelling down from the skylight, apparently on the hunt for the Resurrection Man as well.
I for one am enjoying this book and look forward to seeing where it goes from here.
