Out of the out of the 5 or so bat books out there right now, i’m pleasently surprised to find what some out consider a “second string” bat book, to be the one i look forward to most.

Issue 1 of Red Robin was amazing, and continued to hold my interest until for the first arc, but this second arc has hands down made Tim Drake my favorite character in the batverse, and possibly in the DCU entirely.

He has “infiltrated” the League at this point and descovers that the league’s roster is being hunted down by another assassin group, named The Council Of Spiders. Until this point readers didn’t know much about their memebers of the Council, other than the fact that they seem to have a Wolverine rip off, a Parker Robbins look-a-like, and a Goro (with hair) wannabe.

Tam Fox, Lucious’ daughter has been sent to find Tim, which she has done, but now is left to defend “The Cradle” ( League’s base of operations). This issue follows Tim trying to get back to the Cradle to attempt to save Tam, which i wouldn’t be surprised to see a romantic relationship come out of this…if she lives of course.

Chris Yost is good. I loved what he did following basically one character through the mini “Killer of Demons”. I loved what he did with a big group in X-Force and i’m loving how he’s managing Red Robin. The story is following basically three different events happening all at once, while jumping time, WHILE telling the origins of a new assassin group. He does this in a comprehensive way and the reader doesn’t have a chance to get bored.

The art is finally dead on for me. This arc has had different artists each issue and i think Marcus To is dead nuts for this series. Nothing was hard to misinterprate and he really has great storytelling abilities.

If your a bat-fan, then you need to be reading this book.
