The Red Lanterns are probably my favorite new lantern corps to be introduced in the last few years. Unfortunately, the series has been little more than a side story since the new 52 started. It was an improvement when the members of the Reds upgraded from monosyllabic rage-monsters to multisyllabic rage-monsters, but there never seemed like there was a point to the story being told. Until now. Charles Soule may be just what this series needs to be more than just “That other Lantern book no one is reading”. This is issue is well paced, has decent action, displays a sense of humor that I don’t think we’ve seen from this book yet, and gives Guy Gardner something to do other than being one of Hal Jordan’s backups. Give in to your rage, and let Red Lanterns be the guilty pleasure you might be looking for from the new 52.
