I haven’t read Red Lanterns since issue 1 but jumped on here with the change in the GL universe following Geoff Johns departure. I’m not usually a Guy Gardner fan and my concerns are justified in this issue. He’s a good guy until he’s not and then he’s undercover until he isn’t. There’s a lot of questionable characterizations here from Hal Jordan to Atrocitus. Throw in a fight between Red Lanterns over whether to sacrifice one of their own in a ritual that ends with no one winning and all participants just hanging out and you have a weird book that didn’t get me interested in what comes next. The art was also off. Everybody looks chubby and the facial expressions don’t match the dialogue. This is all too bad because I’ve been hearing good things about Charles Soule. Unfortunately this title isn’t for me.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 2 - Average
