i grabbed this one off the stands this week, not even realizing it was a week old. i haven’t read very much of anything with L.E.G.I.O.N. in it, but i have a vague fondness for vril dox, braniac 2.  i was expecting this to be a book that i’d finish reading and wish for my 3 bucks back.

and man, was i wrong. this book was AWESOME.

– dox, like braniac 5 from the legion, is a complete badass; the smartest guy in the room, and slightly dickish at all times, though not so much as to make you loathe him.

– his interaction with supergirl was simply priceless – post-hypnotic suggestion to make her burn information on a DVD with heat vision?

– i had no clue as to what was going on in the secondary characters and their story.

– the art put the book over the edge. andy clarke feels like he’s got a touch of gary frank in him, and a touch of kevin maguire’s hyper-expressive faces as well. it was really a pleasure to look at dox and supergirl’s faces – they told you everything you needed to know.

surprisingly good read. will definitely continue with issue 2!

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
