I get what’s going on in this comic but it is presented in a confusing way. The different sections are not linked closely making you feel lost in the story.

Elizabeth is talking to Dr. Kvasir in the opening pages and then suddenly you turn the page to see the words “later” and Elizabeth has Dr. Kvasir’s eye ball. Huh? It’s explained later on but you have no clue how she got it. You get the feeling you’ve missed something. I went back to the previous pages to check and nope, nothing there. I think there should’ve been some hint because it seemed to make no sense.

Further into the comic Elizabeth comes across outlanders contained in cells. She talks to them until Colonel Casey suddenly shows up and you’re thinking, oh no, what’s he going to do to her now that she knows something. You turn the page and there’s a firefight between mutants and three Outlanders in the lab. WTF! Where’d the mutants come from, where’s Elizabeth and Colonel Casey and who are these three Outlanders? Did I just start a different comic or jump ahead to issue #3? There’s no link to what came before as if you missed several pages of the story. You piece it all together later on but it still feels like something was edited out.

The characters are set up and then broken down too quickly and without enough reason.

Dr. Kvasir is resolute in not jeopardizing his position in Colonel Casey’s regime but then suddenly goes AWOL over a routine experiment. Colonel Casey is supposed to be this scary bad dude. He does his megalomaniac speech trying to convince Elizabeth of his plan and when it is not working he starts threatening her. Then something happens, and I won’t spoil it, that makes him look like a pushover. Do any of these characters have any reason to be here other than Elizabeth?
