For my short comic reading life, Frank Castle has never been a character that I can say I care for. However while reading this issue, my instincts tell me that I should not feel sorry for this psychopath. Jason Aaron’s scripting has shown me that while Frank is a mass murder, he has also made me feel pity and even poignant towards our main character. Now while Aaron deserves a lot of credit, Steve Dillion should receive equal credit. While Dillion’s cartoony style at a glance doesn’t seem to work with this title, he has managed to breath life into Aarons script, whether it’s the weathered look on old Frank Castle, or the face of stone cold killer in young Frank Castle. If you love character pieces with excellent art, this is the book for you.
