Back in the 90’s, one of my numerous #1’s was prophet. Yes, Rob Liefeld was huge back then and Prophet is my Liefeld Superman, i kid you not. Now upon reading and hearing from ifanboy that Prophet is back, i was eager to read how drastically different this current incarnation is. Sadly just now i found the time to read it so this book became one of my weekly jump-in comics. At first it gave be a vibe similar to 2000ad and heavy metal comics. The art is surely one of the culprits but a welcome change of scenery amongst the superhero books. The colors are the main draws for the art and would love to see more.

And just when i was getting used to this new gritty, dystopian theme, i got pulled back to a certain moment in time back in 1996 and saw the iconic feature of our protagonist, now THIS is the Prophet i recognize! The story may new and the art may be different. But that one iconic feature the Prophet wears bridges the 2 eras together for me. (Not to mention that the “crown” now has meaning to it which is a very welcome delight to me. Bravo! Sir Graham.)

Now, i need to fork up some digital doh to get the other issues.
