This was the first issue of the “Proof” saga I’ve had the fortune of reading, and I wish I had been more impressed. While the concept of an x-files-type secret syndicate run by a sasquatch is just about the platonic ideal of comic book concepts, I found that the story didn’t go too far in the space of one issue. The storytelling by artist Riley Rossmo was well-played, it felt like not much happened inside those nicely rendered pages. Also, there was no attempt (especially in a #1 issue) to explain who the supporting cast was, which made it difficult to know whose side we were on in some places. While the concept may be killer, I don’t think I’ll be back next month.
