This is the issue I’ve been waiting for, it has everything – including answers, and the artist hits his stride.
The issue starts with the Green Lama (GL) meditating on recent events and realizing that he should not have followed the Black Terror’s (BT) hasty actions. He comes out of his cocoon-like meditation and goes berserk almost choking-out BT BUT the Big Shots comes to his aid. It seems that the Big Shots are going to help the readers find answers, among those answers is the mystery of the connection b/w dreams in the urn a strange dream-like state out of the urn.
Most of the issue takes place outside of the Pentagon. People have gathered in support of the Super Powers (SP) but the military shows up to spoil the party. Before the military gets a chance confront the SPs it seems they aren’t the only bad guys showing up to spoil the coup. Up to this point there had been narration by Captain Future (who reminds me a whole lot of Puddy from Seinfeld) alluding to that he is a god, and then he is shown holding Flame Girl above his head as they are consumed by lightning he has brought down (cover worthy artwork here). I would guess this act is meant to unleash his inner-god before he declares himself as (SPOILER)zues(SPOILER) in an issue to come. It seems CF’s sucking the energy out of people was to bring him up to his full power. Another interesting note is that in the crowd that was outside of the Pentagon is a nameless villain stalking the DDD (Death-Defying Devil), this same man was the narrator of the DDD origin.
Another arc going through this issue is the Inheritors watching TV and seeing a group of UN super heroes being sanctioned to take on the SPs. Meanwhile, Boy Terror and Kitten make out, this angers Man-Cat and he finally breaks out of his cage to slash Boy Terror’s face, revealing that he is really Dynamic Boy. A flashback on the last page shows that Dynamic Boy killed (kill-killed) Boy Terror and stole his identity.
This was a great issue, I haven’t said that about any issue this arc, but this one deserves it.
