Why aren’t you reading this title? Following on the heels of two outstanding mini series, Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes and Exile on the Planet of the Apes, both written by Gabriel Hardman and Corinna Bechko (sounds like ‘echo’), with art by Hardman on Betrayal and by the excellent Marc Laming on Exile, Cataclysm picks up 8 years before the first movie.
And Cataclysm starts off by answering a question that is raised by the first movie, namely what happened to the moon? Damian Couceiro does a good job with the art duties and the book’s color is ably provided by Darrin Moore.
I never thought I would be buying a Planet of the Apes comic, let alone excited by one. This needs to be attributed to Hardman and Bechko’s feel for the world they are working in and their comfort they have with the characters voices, along with the artists’ ability to get that onto the page for all of us to enjoy. Buy this book.

Story: 5 - Excellent
