You like good Science Fiction? You remotely dig the Planet of the Apes universe (the ORIGINAL, and Rise respectively...NOT Burton's)? Then why aren't you reading this book? You don't need to know anything about POTA continuity to jump in. If you give a few issues a try, I promise you wont just be pulling it every month, you'll be asking your LCS 3 or 4 times/ month if the new issue is in...because you can't wait to find out what happens next. The writing has confidence (guts, even?); features gritty well-executed contextually appropriate violence; and has actual developed characters. Frankly, Planet of the Apes beats the crap out of most "major" titles--I should know, I read those "major" titles. The only mis-step was a too obvious 9/11 reference from an issue ago. I'm not revealing much plot because you deserve to enjoy that for yourself. Did I mention the art? The palettes, lighting, inking...all of it just plain works and helps tie this universe tightly together. POTA doesn't look like anything else. POTA is NOT the best thing you've ever read. But POTA is better than half of what you're reading NOW. P.S. The limited series "Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes" and "Exile on the Planet of the Apes" are even better than POTA the ongoing.
