Anyone that has read my reviews or comments on iFanboy knows I’m into history; it’s kind of my thing. I even run a history website (gratuitous plug: www.MajorHistory.com )
So when a comic like this comes along its a revelation. Grafting the Peter Pan story onto World War II sounds ridiculous but in this book its all about the execution. Kurtis Wiebe is a great writer of both the action and the emotional tension that underpins the plot. The device of having a character narrate the story is also used exceptionally well here. Modern sensibilities and historical action are play off each other. Character motivations are clear and understandable. The art by Tyler Jenkins is also masterful. The cartoony style stand in opposition to the seriousness of the writing and situation.
Everything about this issue and series is amazing. The plotting, writing, art, and themes all come together to make one the top books shipping each month. Its unlike anything else on the shelves right now and that’s exactly what most comic fans are clamoring for. Do yourself a major favor and get this book. Pick of the Week by a mile.

Story: 5 - Excellent

  1. After the press the first arc got I thought I would give the trade a shot. I thought it was ok but nothing special. I think I would have been more interested if it actually was Peter Pan.
