I don’t know if you can really call the start of an issue where the
main character is fighting a sentient planet slow, but this issue did
seem a little top heavy on narrative. I gues you kind of have to if
you’re paying off for over 2 years worth of stories and showing how
they’re all connected, but I wish there had been a more organic way of
bringing it out. As for the issue, I feel that ther big battle was a
good pay off and ranked about as good as Blue Beetle #25 with the earth
hero fighting his way through an entire space army. I like how bad ass
the other Rider brother was in this. Well, maybe not bad ass so much as
taking initiative, which I pray doesn’t get him killed as I like him as
foil for Rich. I like the new status quo for the World Mind, though it
does seem a little trite. As a fan of Nova since the New Warriors, the
character at the end was truly jaw droppingly awesome. I love the art
in this book. My favorite panels were the bedroom panels with all the
little things in them, but each page is solid comic book art. I assume
next issue it kicks into high gear with the War of Kings story, and I
can’t wait.
