Why must all modern comics come back to Tesla somehow?

Now our heroes are in a race to Long Island to stop the Red Rogue from getting to some tower that Tesla built, which apparently has something to do with the world-destroying energy pulse we keep hearing about in the prologue text. For a story that's rebooting decades-old characters that most of us have never seen before, this story is moving pretty fast, and I like that. There was no dilly-dallying in the Golden Age; they had spy rings to smash and Nazis to punch. And while this isn't exactly a throwback style of storytelling, it is aiming for a classic feel, and hits its mark.

The story's taking a sharper focus on Johnny Canuck and Nanook, but the supporting cast is still there, used sparingly and well. The art's also noticeably better than the last issue; the faces look more normal and the action scenes are well executed.

The real treat of these issues, though, is the Golden Age reprints in the back. This time we get a pulpy detective tale of the Red Rogue, who has one of the sillier Golden Age costumes I've ever seen (think 1950s Starman, but with shorts and ballet slippers). This one's a keeper.
