Damn, this thing is massive. Its a good month to be a Titans fan with this and Games out so close to each other. While I loved Games and made that my pick of the week last week, this was just nice. Boy the 80’s sure had some clunky gimmicks like thought balloons and caption boxes that overly explain things, all of which was avoided in Games. That aside it was fun reliving the time I first read these stories back in High School. The art somewhat holds up, and you can tell that Perez was just doing the layouts with finishes that run the gambit from poor to passable. The less said about the coloring the better. Lots of bright primary colors, lots of purple used as filler for backgrounds. I had hope that DC would go in and use today’s technology to spruce up the coloring much like they did with Crisis, but no they didn’t.

If you paid retail I would say the book isn’t worth the price, but if you got it at Amazon like me than it was worth the 45.00. While nice to have this run, I wish DC took more care in reproducing it. I’ll get the next volume but I’ll stop when Perez art does.
