The relaunch of New Mutants had a lot of promise.  The return of Legion, Cannonball trying to (once again) come into his own as a leader.  But in the back of my mind I kept thinking “Please keep them out of Limbo, please keep them out of Limbo, please keep them out of” Damn it.

I had planned on dropping this last issue because of the premise.  I gave it another shot.  It did not win me over.

I have a new roommate who’s currently reading the 90s X stuff, and he looked at the art and went “Ewww, the nineties stuff is way better than that.”  I disagree.  I think Kirk’s art is fine.  It’s not great, but it’s better than most of the current X-art.  Cartoony, and thick lined, it’s sort of a hybrid of Manapul and McCrea.

I’m going to drop this title for now, though, and try and keep an eye for the beginning of the next, hopefully Limbo free, story arc.

I should say, though, as much as it didn’t grab me, it’s a much better read than Second Coming: Hellbound.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good
