The only reason I picked up this book was because of Eric Canete.  I’ve been a huge fan of his work ever since I saw his pencils grace the pages of Iron Man: Enter the Mandarin.  After a brief stint on The End League and an issue of Amazing Spider-Man, I’m glad to see him back in another mini series.  His art is the true definition of kinetic.  Every panel has energy and motion to it.  The first three pages of the fight with Hippo was incredible, and I felt the impact of Luke Cage crashing down to end the fight.  When Cage battled Hammerhead, the pages exploded with the force of those two crashing into each other.  Not only did the buildings take huge punishment, but the in close blows that both fighters dealt were ladled with punishment.  Canete continues to be one of my favorite artists.

Luckily, they found this guy named John Arcudi (who’s ridiculously talented) to pen an interesting story to compliment all of the action.  I appreciate that Arcudi is allowing Cage to flex his detective muscles, but his script includes enough action to make use of Canete’s energetic style.  The story has piqued my interest enough to keep me involved for all three issues, and I’m excited that there will be a solid story to go along with the amazing art.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
