New Avengers has served as a
terrific companion to the events of Siege.
And now it’s finally all caught up with the events in each actually
matching up like they’re supposed to.
It’s a minor miracle.  And I could
tell you all about how Bendis does a great job of spotlighting the two couples
in the Avengers and lays out their reasons for fighting and their hopes for a
new life once all this is behind them.
It’s a great look at the smaller characters in this event and Bendis
does a great job of playing it against the attack on Asgard.  That stuff was
all great and a wonderful reminder of how good this series can be, but something
else stuck out for me during this issue.  Lady
Octopus.  You read that right, Lady
Octopus appears in this issue.  Out of
left field at the request of no one comes Lady Octopus in the Mockingbird/Hawkeye
(I mean, Ronin) flashback.  Lady
Octopus.  Quite possibly the worst thing
to come out of Spider-Man comics in the nineties that wasn’t a clone.  Lady Octopus.
I’m not sure what’s worse, the fact that she’s in this issue or how easily
Bendis uses her.  It’s actually a great
moment both unexpected and fun with all of the characters in on the joke of how
ridiculous this all really is.  Lady
Octopus.

  1. Good review, I thought this issue was great. Also spider-man didn’t say much this issue but was very funny as always. I don’t wanna be a jerk but some of the facial expressions were a lil off for me…
