Let me start off with this. I love Cap. I am a Captain America guy, but it never made sense to me that he would be in the Illuminati. The Illuminati makes the decisions others can’t or won’t make. Caps decisions are basically already known before he’d make them. So seeing that the team realizes that Cap is an obstacle not worth having makes sense. Each character felt right. We see Reed scolding Steve; Black Panther and Namor only thinking of their nations; Hank having no comment as he tries to find his place and voice in the team; and the group waiting for Tony to ultimately decide to remove Steve from the team. Hickman’s writing is spot on. The little game between Reed and the prison over a plate of french fries just made me happy. She is the opposite of Reed’s hope in finding a way to stop it all. I’m going to assume she has seen other worlds try and utterly fail more than she’s mentioned. Seeing Galactus’ and Thanos’ reaction as the infinity gauntlet is created was a nice touch and I wonder if either will be taking a visit to Earth anytime soon to “investigate”. Lastly, Epting is awesome in this issue. The art and colors are simply amazing. I do have one gripe. I felt Hank looked kinda gorilla-like. It’s not jarring as he seems to be the one character that looks different in whatever book he’s in. All-in-all, this is what I want in an Avengers story.
