I’m a anti-reg till the day i die and thus have found myself hating certain characters for their support of the Super human registration act. Tony Star, She-Hulk, Reed Richards, Hank Pym, and several others with Ms. Marvel being one of the top contenders. While Shulkie and Stretch have redeemed themselves in my books thanks to Mark Millar and Dan Slott, and the revelation that Pym had been a skrull since before the War began. However Tony Stark and i’m a major iron man fan no matter what he does will always seem like the man who killed Captain America to me and tthen Carol Danvers….i’ve tried to enjoy Brian Reed’s run on her ongoing but there are so many ideas going around and not alot of focus to bring it all together. The book came into being as a way to launch Ms.Marvel to be Marvel’s premiere female hero, well at least in her own mind and then Civil War hit and Carol became cape killer number 2. I forgave all of that but when Carol supposedly has doubts about the civil war in her own book and decked Tony Stark the book lost me and the next arc which had several plot lines going on at once ruined what could have been an amazing run on a character whose been sorta thrust into the spotlight. Anyway thats neither here or there, lets talk about this annual which is in essence a by the numbers fight and them team up story, but lets throw in the angst of Spiderman. When i saw the cover i almost refused to even glance at the solitication because i assumed it be one of those stories where all is forgiven about the civil war and we’ll ignore that Carol and the other Avengers have been trying to arrest Spidey, but Brian Reed suprised me in writing a story that seems like a natural superhero team up without shoving the angst of civil war under the bed. With that being said its not extraordinary, Carl appears to arrest spider, they fight a threat looms, they team up problem solved. Nothing is really revolved by his annual and i like it that way, i like the divisions amongst the avengers and i like that Carol and her mighty avengers buddies need to really work hard to repair the marvel universe after the fiasco that was the Civil War. The art is pretty good nothing amazing but the artist does a great job of conveying the story. Hopefull with this annual and Reed’s plans to take Carol back to her roots the book gets a focus and becomes more about Carol’s path to become the greatest hero again rather then a redemption story.

  1. Good review. But paragraphs are your friend. 😉

    P.S: What an atrocious cover!

  2. First review and all, but seriously this is some of the worst greg horn i’ve seen and i actually liked a couple of his ms.marvel covers

  3. I agree that annuals don’t need to be major events int he characters’ lives. Let’s just have fun with it, eh?

  4. Holy Crap! Seriously! I usually ascribe to the "try to find the good in it" philosophy but…

Frig. I nominate this cover for best material for my dog to crap on.
