I must congratulate Mr. Kindt for officially winning me over to the creator-owned camp. Mind you, this was no easy feat; I have been reading comic books for 23 years, and until today, have felt quite comfortable reading only superhero books from DC, thank you very much. But what Matt Kindt has done in Mind MGMT is astounding.

This book is a masterpiece of innovation: 24 pages of spellbinding narration, strikingly understated art, and the seeds of a rip-roaring tale of suspense combine to make Mind MGMT a uniquely immersive and multi-sensory experience. Not a single inch of this book is wasted; from the outside covers to the borders around the newsprint pages, every piece of the comic is part of the story. And what a story it is. I can’t even begin to guess where Kindt is taking us, but I can guarantee that I’ll be along for the ride.

If you’re in the market for something so different as to be downright inspirational, check out Mind MGMT. For the first time in a long time, I paid $3.99 for a comic book, and concluded that it was totally worth every penny.

Story: 5 - Excellent
