Mighty Avengers seems to be the anti-Bendis Bendis book.  Take all the typical critisism that people have about the work of Brian Michael Bendis (too much talking, too many pages of people's heads, too slow) and inverting them and invert them and you get Mighty Avengers.  What we get is splash pages upon splash pages of fighting, time travelling booty-calling Doctor Doom and a plot and action that moves along like an out-of-control train. 

Aftering dealing with a Venom bomb in one issue the Mighty Avengers are off to kick Doom's ass, and do so handily in one issue.  In a typical Bendis book this would have taken an entire year, but here the fight is over before it really starts as the Avengers cut through the Doombots and get to the end boss pretty quickly.  The trouble comes when Iron Man and Doom fall through time back to what appears to be the late '60s period (as indicated by some old school colouring). 

What's shocking is how quickly this all is moving.  After what felt like ten months of the Avengers standing around shouting at She-Ultron the story has clearly picked up pace.  My issue is that I just don't really care about the characters.  Except for Iron Man and Ms. Marvel, both of who have their own titles, everyone else pretty much acts like action figures standing around until there's some violence to be done.  In trying to be un-Bendis like Bendis is losing out on some of what makes me love him so. 

 I don't care about these characters (except for New Avengers hold-overs Spider-Woman and Iron Man) nearly as much as I do the New Avengers.  Maybe it's just lack of exposure to the characters, or more likely in trying to write a more traditional comic book Bendis has succeeded in writing a more traditional comic book with all the good and bad that comes with that.
