The slow burn over the course of nine excellent issues turns to intense heat vision searing the back of your throat this month in The Mighty. Alpha One, the not-so-good Superman analog, discovers that his chum Cole is now fully aware of his evil plan to detonate a dirty bomb in a baseball stadium. After a few decoys, he finds him and leaves us with one hell of a cliff hanger. The cover says it all but at the same time it comes out of nowhere as you are ardently moved through the panels. Just another example of how well this story is paced and really, the series as a whole. And once again Chris Samnee delivers with his unique artwork and striking panels; especially Alpha One facing a looming and enormous tidal wave. Samnee is a perfect replacement for original artist and co-creator Peter Snejbjerg. I am eagerly awaiting the next issue to answer the question that comic books ask the best, what happens next?
