Creepy Ass Superman ! This is a fantastic start to what I hope is an ongoing book. This is a perfect marriage of art and story. Peter Snejbjerg has this clean and cute almost Oeming type art, just a bit less stylized. The story offsets the art perfectly. It is dark, strange and very unsettling. Now there is a fair degree of death and violence in this issue but that is not the unsettling thing about the issue or the series. Peter Tomasi

Has created a truly disturbing character in Alpha One. An obvious Superman analogue Alpha One is written as a sociopath. He plays a human well but everything said and done rings hallow and rehearsed something one would think damn near impossible in medium of 1 paragraph or two word balloons. Snejbjerg adds to this atmosphere of uncomfortable moments by drawing One in a simmering and fuming manner whenever he emotions run high, that gives the reader the impression that nor only is Alpha One barley holding back some deep dark stuff but capable of laying waste to not just everything in the frame but everything in the page.

Put down Irredeemable and pick this up if you want a much darker, frightening and frankly better written Superman man gone wrong story.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 5 - Excellent
