This is it, the big reveal of both Alpha's background and what he is really up to. I am sure some will be disappointed, as answering a mystery somehow never ends up as interesting as the mystery, but I loved this issue. And I loved it not so much because of what Alpha was saying but how he was saying it: The way he coldly lays out all his insane plans, terrible crimes, and outright atrocities so calmly and with what appears to be a honest hope and belief that his new chum can get on board with the Alpha-1 Fascist Express is really horrifying. He is either insane or so inhuman that he can't grasp why what he is saying is so truly awful. If you have ever been in a situation with a mentally disturbed person, one where it slowly dawns on you that the person you are talking to might be dangerous, this whole scene rings very true. And I don't know if I believe everything Alpha told us anyway. I am pretty sure the bag lady I met on the subway wasn't really working for the CIA either.
Samnee's art continues to excel and for whatever reason I really noticed the color this issue. by colorist John Kalisz, with some blues and reds that just made the art pop off the page.
My only concern at this point is that this series appears to be ending in two issues, which might be a little quick considering the pace of storytelling so far. I do think we have been given most of the clues to Alpha's weakness so I guess Tomasi and Champagne can just bust that out now whenever they need to end this... assuming the end isn't Emperor Alpha, Ruler of Earth triumphant on a bloody throne made from the splintered bones of humanity. I wouldn't put it past this series.

Emperor Alpha, that would be a pretty cool ending!! I doubt they’d actually do something that cool though.
