I have a feeling someone, somewhere in Marvel wanted to make this book “Marvel Universe vs. Hawkeye” but was shot down on the premise that Hawkguy just doesn’t sell. And while they may be right, it doesn’t change the fact that Clint kicks some serious *expletive deleted* here.

So far we’ve seen the prequel and sequel to MUvtA, Wolverine and Punisher, respectively, and now we’re shown the conclusion of the Avengers foray into this cannibalistic world. With Doom being forced to show his hand, only Hawkeye, Punisher and a handful of heroes are left to stem the tide of destruction, and you can bet they do so with some serious manliness.

While I think this attempt to recapture Marvel Zombie’s appeal fell short by quite a bit, it was a fun read none the less, and an interesting little “What If”. At least up until surprise Thor. It was like they were writing, getting all excited and realized they had two pages left, so decided to just Thor ex Machina Clint’s head in. Obviously we weren’t going to get a happy ending, but come on…

So all in all, decent story, decent art, but nothing really to rush down to your LCS for. Check it out in TPB if you’re a Zombies fan, otherwise, you’ll be fine just reading Hawkeye. Everyone should be reading Hawkeye. Read Hawkeye. Hawkeye.
