So monkeys right?

Who doesn’t bloody love monkeys? In comics? They’re a barrel of fun and mostly delightful, adorable creatures that remind us of distant cousins and for me at least, greatly draw out the similarities between us and the natural world surrounding us. Shows us how close we actually are to our brothers and sisters in the natural world. Right?

I love them primates as much as the next guy but being someone who recently got into comics and not knowing too much about the Marvel Universe, this book just didn’t do it for me. The jokes mostly fall flat and I find the humour rather kitsch. I can see why some people might like this though.

The art wasn’t too hot either. It lacked character and didn’t really bring out the goofiness and funny that this book was suppose to be about. The character designs are bland and uninteresting, and Gibbon, the main character I found cliche. The social outcast thing has been done before, better, elsewhere.

I don’t know about this. I’ll read the next few issues to see where this is going, but all signs point to it being an example of boring, rather unnecessary fan-service to me.

It just wasn’t very fun.

  1. I agree with you.  This book wasn’t all that much fun and for $3.99 I definitely won’t be picking up the next issue.
