I think my issue of Marvel 1985 #4 by Mark Millar and Tommy Lee Edwards may have been missing some pages.
The story of marvel villains occupying “our” earth after the first Secret War seemed to past at a glance. Despite this, the story did up the ante in the issue. The villains are one longer operating in secret, they are now reeking havoc in a small town in the middle of America.
Makes sense.
Though all the fun, the reader learns that the small town does, in fact, matter. It house ‘s the portal the villains used to invade our earth and was also the home of the only marvel mutant-style mutant (not the depressing birth defect style mutant) our earth has known.
The issue ends with Toby’s father confronting the villains and Toby entering the multi-verse portal and travelling the Marvel (616?) earth.
Now here’s the rube. I think Millar’s story was from the beginning a metaphor designed to make comic readers, marvel zombies, geeks, etc; question weather or not they are living they’re lives to the fullest. Spending too much time obsessing of Captain America, Pym particles and secondary mutations or dealing with the details of daily life.
All i know is I have seen X-men 2 twenty times, rarely go outside and enjoyed this book.
