Manhunter 35 encapsulates much of what I like about this book. The writing is sharp and the art is great. I especially liked the small panel of Kate breaking a thug’s nose which looked really painful. This issue was well paced with fun fisticuffs, smart dialogue, and strong moments of character development. This issue and the series as a whole is dependent upon the audience’s ability to relate to Kate Spencer and Marc Andreyko is successful at this. Kate is complicated and has a lot of problems. She has a screwed up family history, she makes mistakes, and she has bad habits like smoking and killing people which we can all relate to. Well I hope nobody can relate to the killing. Through all this though, Kate is still likable and interesting. If you like relatable street level heroes that don’t mine getting their hands dirty then this issue and the series as a whole might be for you.
Art: 4 - Very Good

Yeah, that headbutt did look rather painful! I love how Marc writes Manhunter’s writing style distinctively. Lik the fake outs she does and how she doesn’t hesitate to go for the finishing blow, regardless of how brutal it may be.
Smart book indeed.
