LEGION OF SUPER HEROES #42

i wish more people were reading this book, because it’s been consistently fun since shooter’s run began – which is when i started reading. and honestly? i still think there’s time – you can still buy this issue and get what’s been going on. while the ongoing story still pushes onward, involving the tension between the legion and the government along with the increasingly difficult to kill alien monsters who’ve been showing up, it’s simple and slow-moving enough to be easily graspable at this point.

and that’s not a criticism – things are moving somewhat slowly, but it’s not a darevil-like morass of depression – there is constant action, humor, and strong characterization. and make jokes about the size of the cast, but everyone is so clearly written that it’s no challenge to “get” these characters. it’s also a book where the teens act and sound like teens.

the art is a joy – it’s bright, dynamic, and full of character. it fits this book like a glove.

if this sounded like it was a bit gushing…well, it is. i’m gushing. but that’s because this book is so much fun. it’s just good comics. buy it!

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
