As I read this issue I felt more like I was watching a movie than reading a comic for some unknown reason, I really can’t explain it in words. And for me, this was a good thing. This issue starts with a “bite” and ends with a “bang” with lots of interesting character set-up between. The dialogue is funny at times and also realistic. The art is realistic but also has a certain style to it with a watercolor-like finish. My only complaint on the art was I tend to like stuff that is inked and colored instead of what looks like it has been colored over the pencils. This was a great start and I can’t wait for the next issue. The AWESOME cover by Darwyn Cooke doesn’t hurt either and it looks like he is supplying a cover for #2 as well. I know many people may be turned off that this is another zombie book, but it doesn’t read like one in my opinion and is worth at least a flip through.
