This is not transgressive art so much as juvenile. Between all the truly asshole people Remender introduces (or reintroduces, it’s been a long wait between issues), I’m left wishing the government would turn the Behavior Inhibitor on a week early just to spare us any more pages of what can easily summarized (and hardly missed) as Miscreants Behaving Badly. Toccini makes pretty art, but skimps a little too much, too often on the details; the flow and coherency of the storytelling is hit or miss, especially in the more briskly paced scenes. That is done no favors when it’s coupled with Remender’s thin plot. There might be enough to sell as a movie pitch, but not enough to justify $5.00 thrice spent, sir.

It takes truly masterfully work to make slogging through Mean People doing Mean Things worthwhile. Last Days of American Crime simply isn’t.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good
