I don't usually write these but as I really loved this book and my own city cameo'd I had to at least try writing a review. In knight and squire so far we have been treated to a fun light hearted romp that easily is one of the first to be read on a Wednesday, it's obvious that the team behind it are really enjoying themselves and that translates onto the pages.
This week things got even better as the story of Jarvis poker unfolded, from the sad exit from the GPs office to the surprising guest star I was completely captured. With the cover treatment and how the story read I was completely sold on the theory that shrike would kill Jarvis so it was an absolute pleasure to be wrong. I think Paul cornell has great handle on the joker and the interplay with Jarvis and his inspiriration was brilliantly portrayed. Jimmy broxton doesn't disappoint on art and tells us as much about the differences between the two jokers as the writing does.
Everything is set up for a knockout finale, with the status quo which was succinctly observed in knight and squires attempts to give Jarvis a fitting tribute as a real villain and not a joke, about to be ripped apart. Here's hoping for more in the future.
