Lets get the worn out buzz words out of the way first... Meta, Post-Modern... there now I can tell you about a well crafted story rife with emotion, trechery, heroism, villany... in short everything you could want from a comic book (or Shakespeare).   Hamlet, Falstaff, Iago, Richard and Lady Macbeth all act true to form... the warrior woman Juliet is a bit odd but I'll go with it for now.   The dialoug has several call outs to Shakespear's words... but not so much it gets in the way of the story.  I also want to give a nod to the cover, the image of Juliet rousing the villagers is cool, but at first the tiger image behind her confused me until I remembered a bit of King Henry V's speach from the battle of Haufler

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger...

Which is what Juliet is doing, playing the Henry the Vth roll, but Hamlet is the star this issue, the thoughtful inactive Prince manages to do by deed what Juliet strived for in words.

If you love Shakespeare you'll love this... if you never liked Shakespeare you should give this a try... Will's works were made to be watched, and seeing his characters converted to the medium of comics lets them "act" with out needing to get tickets to a play or rent a Kenneth Branagh film.
