Ok I think we can safely say we’ve found the Fallen Sun of the DCU.
Here’s an issue with a storyline we all thought was over and a character no one could give a rats arse about tied up in a JSA book.
This was sold as a JSA special and lets just say it was nothing special (see what I did there). It was so heavily tied into what I believe is the Magog series that the casual JSA reader couldn’t work out what the hell was going on. Now me, I’ve been reading JSA since it was called that all through the Geoff Johns run and I’m still picking it up and I had to idea who half the characters were and whether they were enemies or friends of Magog. It really should have been sold as a Magog Special (but we all know how that would have sold).
Scott Kollins wrote and drew this issue and I think they’re using the same Photoshop filters on his work as they are on DCU legacies. It just doesn’t pop at all. And the story is so decompressed that it really had me wishing DC followed Marvel and had recap pages.
I usually try to find something positive to say in a review. I am so sorry I can not here. So very very sorry.
