It was with a great sense of anticipation that I cracked open the cover of this annual . That sense of anticipation rapidly turned to dread  and outright disappointment ,First off  the story concerned my least favorite charecter Magog and the dispute between he and Power Girl that has been running in the JSA All Stars . My disappointemnt was further compounded when I saw that Matthew Sturges was one of the writers . Oh well at least the other writer was Kieth Giffen , whose work on the current Doom Patrol is way too much fun . So that was a saving grace ....Right ...wrong ! This book was just plain bad . The plot was stupid and way too predictable . If either of the authors was trying to throw readers a red herring , it did'nt work . This story was the comic equivalent of a bad sitcom , charecters were badly written .the conflict between the heroes was forced and the dialogue was just awful . I really ddi.nt want to use the word awful because it just does'nt do justice to how bad this annual really is .

  The main problem with the charcter of Magog is that he is an a**hole , and the writers don'seem to get that . From his shooting his own teammates to his bare knuckle brawl with Power Girl , he lacks any redeeming qualities whatsoever . You would think that after he shoots a teen age girl with his power lance he might have some guilty feelings ...nope it was her fault for approaching his blind side . Yup the guy who can go toe to toe with Power Girl has a blind side , this is the first time that has been mentioned in this book or either of the JSA books . You think that one of the writers would have thought to mention that once before  but that might mean that they thought about the story before now . This book felt like it was rushed in so many ways , even the ending felt rushed and lazy . All of the old guard members of the JSA were written almost as an afterthought  . Again this book was just awful and that is only because I am too lazy to find a thesarus and find a word that means something worse .
